Our Mandate:
The Centre is responsible for carrying out research in support of all Coast Province Districts except those located in the upper and lower midlands. The main mandate for KARI Mtwapa is adaptive research but also conducts strategic research for improvement of maize, cassava, tree crops like coconut and cashew and aspects of natural resources management specific to the mandate region.  (see Mandate area & position on map of Kenya)

KARI Mtwapa is situated 20 km North of Mombasa in Kilifi District, along Mombasa-Malindi road.
