Abstract

KASAL designed and established a Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) framework to accommodate all KASAL activities. A Management Information System (MIS) was developed and integrated in the KASAL framework. A MIS is a systematic, uniform method for collecting and reporting information about a particular programme, event, or activity. The KASAL MIS greatly improved the efficiency with which indicator data were collected within the project from the principal investigators to the project component coordinators and to the project coordination unit. Although the MIS was designed towards the end of the project, it benefits can be demonstrated and it is an innovation that could be recommended for all KARI projects that are results and logical framework based in their monitoring and evaluation objectives.
