This project supported by the Canadian International Food Security Research Fund (CISFSR)is a collaborative venture between KARI, McGill University, KEMRI, FRESHCO Seed Company, Ministry of Agriculture, Cascade International. The project aims to develop innovative strategies for accelerating large scale adoption and scaling up of durable farming systems in three regions of Kenya. Numerous causes of low agricultural productivity are being investigated as well as the opportunities for linking farmers to markets and implementation of suitable policies for dry land agriculture. Testing and development of appropriate and environmentally sound farming practices is being done with a view to increasing production and consumption of healthy local foods to improve farmers livelihoods
