Kisii Historical background and Mandate area
Historical Background
The Kisii Research Centre (KRC) was initially established at Sotik as an experimental station to conduct research on aspects of animal and crop husbandry. Mandate area
The Centre is responsible for implementing programmes in support of agricultural development in twenty seven districts: Kisii South, Kisii Central, Masaba, Masaba South, Borabu, Nyamache, Kenyenya, Sameta, Manga, Marani, Nyamira, Gucha, Gucha South, Nyamarambe, Kuria East, Kuria West, Migori, Ndhiwa, Suba, Homa Bay, Rachuonyo North, Rachuonyo South, Transmara West, Transmara East).
This area composes the counties of Nyamira, Kisii, Homa Bay, Migori and part of Narok (Transmara), with total land area of 1.1 million ha including 1.0 ha of agricultural land.
