KARI BoM visits the KARI-Katumani cassava multiplication farm at Kiboko

The KARI-Katumani/KASAL cassava multiplication farm at Kiboko is one of the largest in the world. The 85-acre farm currently has 81 acres under cassava at different stages of growth under irrigation. During a visit by the KARI Board of Management led by the Chairman Prof. ole-MoiYoi on 28 April 2011, the Centre Director said that planting material of 9 early maturing and high yielding varieties developed by KAR-Katumani is currently sold through farmers’ groups to individual farmers under subsidy by the Kenya Arid and Semi Arid Lands (KASAL) project.
