The Molo Research Centre was established in 1944.
It is in Nakuru District, Rift Valley Province,
at an altitude of 2550 m. The mean rainfall is
2019 mm. The soil types, according to FAO/UNESCO
classification are Nitoplanohumic Andosols.
The centre's mandate is for pyrethrum research.
This includes development of pyrethrum cultivars/varieties
with high flower yields and high pyrethrum content
acceptable to growers; development of appropriate
improved agronomic/production packages and cropping
systems, and development of suitable pest/disease
control strategies, including Integrated Pest
Management (IPM)
