The Lanet Research Centre is in Nakuru District, Rift
Valley Province, at an altitude of 1920 m. The mean annual
rainfall is 850 mm.
The centre's national mandate is to develop beef production
technologies for high and medium potential areas of Kenya,
and to develop dairy cattle feeding technologies for small-scale
farmers in the cold, dry highlands of Nakuru and the adjoining
districts.
