The National Agricultural Research Centre is in Trans
Nzoia District, Rift Vallye Province,
at an alt 1890 m, latitude 1°N and
longitude 35°E.The mean annual rainfall
is 1143 mm. The soil types according to
the FAO/UNESCO classification are Ferrasols.
The centre's national mandate is to conduct and co-ordinate
research on maize, fodder crops and pasture. Research
programmes conducted or co-ordinated by the centre are
maize breeding and agronomy programme, pasture and fodder
programme, and general support programme.
