The Garissa Research Centre is in North- Eastern
Province at an altitude of 138 m. The mean annual
rainfall is 321 mm, latitude 0°26 N and
longitude 39° 38 E. Mean annual evaporation
is 2375 mm.
The centre's mandate is to conduct adaptive research
on the development of technologies for Garissa, Mandera,
Wajir and Tana River districts.
Research Programmes conducted at the centre are adaptive
research on crops, animal
production, range resources management and socio-economics.
