New Developments
KEVEVAPI and KETRI
More recently, the Kenya Veterinary Vaccines Production
Institute (KEVEVAPI) and the Kenya Tripanosomiasis
Research Institute (KETRI) have been integrated
into KARI. The government has recognized the need
to further strengthen its agricultural research
system by placing these research centres under KARI
to create an institutional framework to effectively
manage, reorganise and consolidate agricultural
research within the country.
KAPP
KARI envisages various shifts in its current research
profile over the next twelve years, within the Kenya
Agricultural Productivity Project (KAPP), to appropriately
address its agenda in relation to:
· New developments in science, research
and extension
· Funding opportunities and partnerships
· Technology invention, repacking, dissemination,
adaptability and impact orientation
KARI has set up a secretariate to work with stakeholders
to formulate the project plan beginning 2004.
