Official Launch of the Climate Change Unit

Kenya Agricultural Research Institute (KARI) has received a grant from the Rockefeller Foundation to mainstream climate change into the research programmes. KARI will launch a climate change unit that will spearhead this initiative on 27th May 2010 at KARI Headquarters .

The Objectives of the Climate Change Unit are:
- Develop a climate change focal point in KARI order to increase the opportunity for and incidence of collaborative work and develop capacity of researchers on technical climate change adaptation topics;
- Increase awareness of climate change issues and concerns internally and externally in order to contribute to and facilitate knowledge development and information sharing
- Coordinate and direct funding for climate change adaptation research in order to mainstream climate change efforts across KARI; and
- Engage external partners and stakeholders on relevant issue areas[Read the day's programme]
