Kiboko Joseph Ndungu
He holds BSc in Range Management (1991) and MSc in Range Animal Nutrition (1996) from the University of Nairobi, Kenya. His fields of specialization are livestock production systems and natural resource management. He is experienced in conducting on-farm participatory research-for-development.
He worked with the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development for 5 years before joining the Kenya Agricultural Research Institute in 1998 as a livestock research scientist in Marsabit Arid Lands Research Centre. He was the Zonal Coordinator of the former USAID/ Global Livestock CRSP/Livestock Early Warning System (LEWS) Project in Northern Kenya, Project Component Coordinator of the European Union/ Agriculture-Livestock Research Support Programme (ARSP II) and Head of the Livestock Section in KARI Marsabit between 2001 and 2003.
In late 2003, he was transferred to Kiboko Range Research Centre, where he headed the Livestock Section between 2004 and 2005. In 2005, he was appointed Ranch Manager in the newly established commercial Ranch Unit. Beginning 2006, he was seconded to the International Livestock Research Institute as a Research Associate in the USAID/ Global Livestock CRSP/Livestock Information Network and Knowledge System (LINKS) Project led by Texas A&M University, USA.
From May 2009, he resumed duties at KARI Kiboko. He is currently pursuing PhD in Dryland Resource Management in the Department of Land Resource Management and Agricultural Technology, University of Nairobi, Kenya. His PhD study is on the impact of climate variability on forage and livestock production in semi-arid rangelands. He can be contacted at P.O.
