Kenneth Monjero Igadwa

Kenneth Monjero Igadwa was born in 1979 in Vihiga district of Western Province of Kenya. He sat for KCSE exams and passed with a preference in sciences. He joined the then Kenya polytechnic for a Diploma in Applied Biology and passed well all the papers.
He has worked as a Secondary Biology and Chemistry teacher in which he performed well but opted to join the science research field.

He joined The Kenya Agricultural Research Institute in the year 2007 as a Technical staff. He worked in the field of Livestock Biotechnology sub-programme in which he gained a vast experience in; Cell culture, Reagents preparation, Livestock disease diagnostic methods, livestock research and vaccine profound.

He later joined Plant Biotechnology section in which he is still working up to date. Monjero has been a technical person of great influence on both research and training programmes. He is experienced in molecular work on both DNA and RNA in relation to plant diseases, diagnostics and research aspects.

Monjero is a member of the Open Forum on Agricultural Biotechnology among others. He has successively participated in National and International workshops and conferences i.e. Rift Valley Fever in Sub- Sahara and Mediterranean regions at Cairo Egypt and Fischer Scientifics workshop in Kenya Nairobi. He has been training several students and staff from KARI and other organizations i.e. KEPHIS staff on DNA/RNA extractions, Public and private university students, visitors and farmers.

Currently he is working on Cassava projects for CBSV/CMD expressions diagnostics characterization and other activities as assigned.
