Kabete: Isaya V. Sijali

Isaya V. Sijali holds an MSc degree in irrigation engineering. He is the National Coordinator of Irrigation, Drainage and Problem Soils Research Programme. He has over 25 years of active experience in irrigation, drainage, soil physics, agro-meteorology and environmental impact assessment. He is a member of key national committees in irrigation and is among those credited with research and promotion initiatives on small scale drip irrigation in Africa since 1996. Currently, he coordinates the IAEA supported project on Small-scale Irrigation Technologies for Enhancing Productivity of High Value Crops and Income Generation in African States, being implemented in 18 African countries. He frequently hosts African Scientists and technicians for specialised training in Soil physics, Irrigation and Application of nuclear techniques in agricultural research and is a member of the Integrated Management of Agricultural Water in Eastern and Southern Africa (IMAWESA), Soil Science Society of East Africa, Impact Association of Kenya, Arid Lands Information Network, among others. Mr. Sijali is also the Secretary of the Kenya Irrigation and Drainage Association (www.kida-kenya.org).
