Kabete: G.N.Gachini
G.N.Gachini is a research scientist working with KARI National Agricultural research Laboratories since 1985. He holds a M.Sc. in soil and water management specialization in soil and plant analysis and plant nutrition. In addition he has pursued postgraduate course on soil and plant analysis and data handling. He is trained in ISO/IEC 17025:2005 Quality Management, Accreditation and Assessment Techniques, Method validation and Uncertainty measurements, and is a qualified auditor in ISO/IEC 17025 for testing laboratories. He has done courses in Environmental Impact Assessment and Audit, Enhancing consulting skills, Gender in agriculture research and extension, Customer service and public relations, Sales and marketing and Management development skills. He has extensive experience in training of laboratory technical staff, scientists and field extension staff on soil and plants laboratory methods and procedures and soil fertility and plant nutrition management. Currently he is in charge of laboratory analytical services at KARI Kabete which deal in the analysis of soil, irrigation water, organic and inorganic fertilizers, plant materials and recommendations of farm inputs, soil fertility management and agronomic practices for optimum crop production based on laboratory analytical data results. He has experience in soil fertility and management, participatory research development, good laboratory practice and management. His research interests are in participatory technology development with farmers geared towards soil fertility management and environmental conservation for maximum utilization of the natural resources.
