Bramwel Waswa Wanjala
Bramwel Waswa Wanjala is a Laboratory Technologist II at the Kenya Agricultural Research Institute-Biotechnology Centre, a position he has held sinceNovember, 2003.Currently he is a graduate student at Egerton pursuing an Msc in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (Plant option).
Mr. Wanjala has six years hands on experience and a full understanding of Plant molecular biology techniques. He supports day-to-day research activities by providing practical technical support to scientists enabling the efficient and safe running of the laboratory & supporting the research of the Principal Investigator. He has provided technical backstopping to many graduate and Phd students
He was awarded Graduate Fellowship (June,2009-May,2010), Biosciences Eastern and Central Africa (BecA)-ILRI Hub, where he Fingerprinted Napier grass accessions form East Africa and the ILRI-Forage Germplasm. A project funded by ASARECA. In March-APRIL, 2008; he was a Technical Associate: BECA-ILRI Hub where Provided technical support and hands on training to a visiting graduate student undertaking Sweet potato genotyping He has been a visiting scientist at the International Institute for Tropical Agricultural (IITA); where he worked on genetic characterization of Cassava for the Kenya &Tanzania Germplasm. In addition he has relevant training and trained others in Biosafety and Marker assisted selection.
He is a team player, has a sense of purpose & determination, resolute in research services and always available to do an extra mile to ensure that responsibilities are executed with expediency & excellence.
Mr.Wanjala has interests in conservation genetics and aspires to nurture his career towards that line.
He is married and has two children
